Terje Evensen
Terje Evensen is a drummer and composer, born in 1978 in a small town called Skien in the south of Norway. He has worked with many styles of music since his drumming career began more than 15 years ago, including; drum 'n' bass, pop, world music, rock and various kinds of computer music. However Terje's main focus is now electronic music, jazz and improvised music. He has been a student of Martin France, Audun Kleive, John Marshall, Paolo Vinaccia, Audun Erlien and Bjørn Kjellemyr.
From 1998-2001 Terje lived in Oslo, working as a freelancer. He has toured in Norway with such bands as; Come taste the Band (a tribute band to Deep Purple), Evensen Trio and with Grenland Free Theatre. He also worked as a studio musician for various projects including advertisements for television and short films. From 2001-2003 he lived in London, where he continued to work as a freelancer, playing with such bands as; Andres Prado Trio, pd conception, Roy Powell Quartet, Rød, Stream X, Julian Arguelles Quartet, and Nova Teatro. He has most recently toured in Peru (April\May 2003), Germany and Austria (ongoing).
In the last 5 years Terje has played at many famous festivals and venues, including Ronnie Scott’s (London), The Lima International Jazz Festival, Blå (Oslo), Kongsberg Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival, and the Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival. As a composer his most comprehensive work has been for his own piano trio, Evensen Trio (from 1998), and Zeebeez (2000-01), a computer-music based project. He has also written music for theatre and dance. He is now composing for a new project, based in Germany and also for Rød, based in London, a jazz/pop computer based music project. In 2000 Terje started his own business; Zamp Studio. In addition to working on his own projects here, he also fulfilled the role as sound engineer and producer for other bands. He has a comprehensive knowledge of the computer program Logic, as much of the work in the studio required a high degree of competency in this field. He is now living and working in Oslo as co-worker and collaborator at Stereo Studio and as a freelancer. He continues to play with the following bands and projects; Andres Prado Trio, Rød, and Nova Teatro.
